Arthur Fery's sensational run to the last four at Wimbledon has grabbed the headlines this week, but the Briton is likely to be finally downed by rampant second seed Alexander Zverev on Friday.
The German has travelled to London weeks after ditching his tag of Grand Slam singles maiden at the French Open in Paris.
And it is quite feasible that Zverev could nail a quickfire clay-grass double come the end of the week.
Best Bet - Alexander Zverev to win 3-0 @ 10/11
Alternative Bet - Alexander Zverev to win match & under 33.5 games @ 11/10
Bet Builder - Alexander Zverev to win 3-0; Under 35.5 games; Over 13.5 Alexander Zverev aces @ 4/1
Best Bet: Alexander Zverev to win 3-0 @ 10/11
Fery has battled superbly to reach the last four of Wimbledon, showing quality as well as a willingness to scrap, but it is hard to see how the Briton can withstand the might of second seed Zverev, who is chasing back-to-back Grand Slam final appearances.
Zverev has endured some tough times in his career, many of them of his own making, but there is little doubt that he is a high-quality operator, even when below his best.
With confidence sky-high after capturing his first major singles title on the Paris clay last month, Zverev could quite easily crush Fery and his dreams on Centre Court on Friday.
This will be their first meeting, but Zverev’s straight-sets last-eight victory over Taylor Fritz was his 15th in 16 singles matches.
Fery did a great job of dispatching Grigor Dimitrov and French Open runner-up Flavio Cobolli in his last two singles outings but Zverev, with his immense power and vast experience, looks likely to prove a bridge too far for the gallant Wimbledon local.
Zverev can be a difficult opponent to reel in if he takes a lead - his serve is difficult to break.
It could be one-way traffic in favour of the German so back him to prevail in three sets.
Alternative Bet - Alexander Zverev to win match & under 33.5 games @ 11/10
A slight variation on the above theme is to back Zverev to progress to Sunday’s final while needing to contest no more than 33 games.
That total seems perfectly acceptable for favourite-backers, given that a 6-4 6-4 6-4 win for the second seed would only reach 30 games.
Clearly, Zverev losing a set would do for punters, but that may not happen and Zverev may even win a set or two by bigger margins than 6-4.
Alexander Zverev to win 3-0
Under 35.5 games
Over 13.5 Alexander Zverev aces
Pays 4/1
Under Bet Builder terms, punters can back under 35.5 games allied with the Zverev to win 3-0 option.
Complete your Builder by backing Zverev to serve at least 14 aces in the encounter, which should be well within his compass judging by his previous efforts in the last 12 days.
Zverev’s recent ace counts have been 14 against Fritz in the last eight, 12 in a four-setter against Jiri Lehecka in the last 16, 17 against Marcos Giron in round three, 14 against Valentin Royer in the second round and 21 in a four-setter against his opening opponent Axel Blockx.
Given that Zverev didn’t seem too put out that his clash with Lehecka went to four sets when there was a chance to defeat the Czech in straight sets, there should be cause for optimism that he can fire down a healthy barrage of bullets against the 5ft 9in Fery.
