Aryna Sabalenka v Naomi Osaka Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

Aryna Sabalenka has reached the semi-finals on her last three visits to Wimbledon but the women's world number one has yet to play in the final of the grass-court Grand Slam and she is looking to put that right this year.

Sabalenka has a tricky test next as she bids to reach the quarter-finals in London this year, as she faces 14th seed Naomi Osaka of Japan, who has won her first three matches in straight sets.

Osaka has cruised past Elsa Jacquemot, Anastasia Gasamova and Daria Kasatkina to reach this stage, while top seed Sabalenka has seen off Teodora Kostovic, McCartney Kessler and Jelena Ostapenko, also without dropping a set.

The pair have four Grand Slam wins each but neither has triumphed at Wimbledon and a close contest is expected in one of the day's top matches.

Aryna Sabalenka v Naomi Osaka Prediction

Best Bet: Over 21.5 games @ 4/5

Neither Sabalenka nor Osaka has lost a set so far in six combined matches at Wimbledon, and neither player is likely to go down without a fight in Sunday's clash, so a protracted battle can be expected.

A match lasting at least 22 games is the most appealing betting opportunity in the contest and two of the duo's four previous matches have gone to three sets.

Osaka won their first meeting in the 2018 US Open 6-3 2-6 6-4, but Sabalenka has had the upper hand in their three subsequent clashes, which have all taken place this season.

The world number one triumphed 6-2 6-4 on a hard court at Indian Wells before a lengthy battle on clay at the Madrid Open, which she won 6-7 6-3 6-2.

The players clashed again at this stage of the French Open, when Sabalenka went through 7-5 6-3, only to be upset by Diana Shnaider in the quarter-finals.

While she is yet to drop a set in London, Sabalenka went close to losing one in her second-round match against Kessler, winning 6-1 7-6 after taking the tie-break 11-9.

There were 20 total games in her 6-4 6-4 third-round win over Ostapenko, and Osaka is capable of pushing her even harder, whether it is in a three-set match or one with two lengthy sets.

Alternative Bet:  Over 9.5 first set games @ 5/6

There have been at least 12 games in the first set of the last two meetings between these players and we could see another close start before one of them begins to get on top.

Osaka took the first set of their Madrid clash this year in a tie-break, while Sabalenka prevailed 7-5 in the opener in Paris, and backing at least 10 games in the early skirmishes in London appeals.

Osaka has been a fast starter in this tournament, winning two of her first sets 6-1 and the other 6-3, so she should come out of the blocks strongly again and put up some fierce resistance early on.

Aryna Sabalenka v Naomi Osaka Bet Builder Tip

  • Aryna Sabalenka to win

  • 3 sets in match

  • Aryna Sabalenka 3+ aces

    Pays 10/3

Sabalenka has yet to close the deal at Wimbledon but it's hard to argue with her record of three consecutive semi-final appearances in her last three visits.

Osaka has never gone further than this stage in Wimbledon in five entries into the main event, but she has been improving on grass and reached her first final on the fastest surface at Bad Homburg this season.

The draw has not helped her this year, but she is capable of taking this match to three sets.

Sabalenka fired down nine aces in her third-round win over Ostapenko and can be expected to record at least three against Osaka.
