Alexander Zverev came into this season still searching for a maiden Grand Slam title but, having finally got over the line at the French Open, he will have high hopes of repeating the feat at the US Open.
Zverev followed up victory in Paris by finishing as runner-up to world number one Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon and things have opened up nicely for him in New York.
Sinner is sidelined through injury and Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic have already crashed out, leaving Zverev as the man they all have to beat.
