Having once been world number 23 and British number one, Katie Boulter’s inconsistencies have seen her tumble down to world number 69 and she is now British number three behind Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal.
Boulter is a four-time winner on the WTA Tour but she has never really made inroads in a Grand Slam, failing to go beyond the third round in any of the four showpiece events.
The Briton is featuring in the main draw of the French Open for only the third time, having won just one match, but she will be hoping for better against Urhobo.
However, the American world number 184 is a relatively unknown proposition and can take this as a free hit having been handed a wildcard appearance for this French Open.
The 19-year-old is clearly a player of immense potential and she has been winning plenty of matches on the ITF Circuit, having already claimed four titles at such a tender age.
Best Bet - Akasha Urhobo to win @ 11/5
Alternative Bet - Total Sets - 3 @ 13/8
Bet Builder - Akasha Urhobo to win a set, Katie Boulter 5+ aces, Katie Boulter 5+ double faults @ 9/2
Best Bet: Akasha Urhobo to win @ 11/5
Boulter should have an experience edge on Urhobo, who is ranked 115 places below the Briton in the world.
However, there is no substitute for confidence and, while Boulter’s belief has been damaged by a couple of poor seasons, Urhobo should have a positive mindset given her recent winning record.
Although Urhobo has been facing much lower-ranked opponents, she has won 23 of her 28 clay-court matches this season and there is an air of vulnerability about Boulter.
The Leicestershire player has failed to go past round two in any of her last nine Grand Slam appearances and has lost four of her last six-clay court matches.
Alternative Bet: Total Sets - 3 @ 13/8
Urhobo is clearly fully accustomed to clay conditions, highlighted by reaching nine finals on the slower surface on the ITF Circuit.
That should allow her to settle on her Grand Slam debut and, being a fearless 19-year-old, Boulter could be in for a tough test.
The British player will lean on her experience and that could ensure a three-set contest, something which has happened in two of her last three matches.
Urhobo is also no stranger to a marathon contest, suggesting that this could be a fiercely-contested encounter settled by fine margins.
Urhobo knows how to win matches on the red dirt and, despite that success coming against lesser opponents, Boulter is hardly performing at the peak of her powers. The American can take a set at the very least.
Boulter is a big server and, although clay can nullify that weapon, she has had 17 aces in her last two appearances on the slower terrain.
Trying to force the initiative with aces can also lead to double faults, though, and the Briton has had 20 of those in her last four clay-court starts.
