Sunderland have made a late offer for FC Augsburg forward Alexis Claude-Maurice.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed the news of the bid on his official X account.
"EXCL | Sunderland have submitted a written offer to FC Augsburg for Alexis Claude-Maurice around 30 minutes ago for a permanent deal.
"It’s unclear whether he is a priority target or a backup option in case the Malick Fofana deal does not happen."
Claude-Maurice is a versatile forward who can operate from a number of different positions.
The former France youth international joined Augsburg from French side Nice in the summer of 2024.
He has scored 13 Bundesliga goals across the past two seasons and has caught the eye of Sunderland as they look to complete a late deadline day deal.
As per the report from Plettenberg, the Black Cats are also in for Malick Fofana from Lyon as the clock ticks away to 11pm.
