Sunderland star poised for loan exit ahead of European deadline

While the English window may have already slammed shut, there is still transfer activity at the Stadium of Light.

After a remarkable return to the Premier League Regis Le Bris has spent the summer looking to bolster his options ahead of the club's first European campaign in more than half a century.

The Wearside club completed a deadline day double capture, signing Malick Fofana and Juan Riquelme Angulo from Lyon and Independiente del Valle respectively for a combined fee reported to be in excess of £30million.

The arrival of Fofana has seen Simon Adingra fall further down the pecking order at Sunderland, and it appears the winger will soon depart the club.

According to a report from Anthony Joseph, Adingra is currently undergoing additional medical examinations ahead of a potential loan move to Dutch giants Ajax.

Separate reports claim the deal will see Ajax pay a loan fee of around £3.3million to secure Adingra's services, with the agreement including the option for them to sign him permanently next summer for £13.7million.

Terms are said to have been agreed between player and club, and provided no issues arise the deal is expected to be finalised prior to the Dutch transfer deadline on Wednesday evening.

Adingra signed a five-year contract after joining Sunderland from Brighton last summer but struggled to hold down a place in the starting XI in the north east.

After making just nine Premier League starts Adingra was allowed to join Monaco on loan in January.

During his time in the Principality the Ivory Coast international scored three times in 17 games in all competitions but the club ultimately opted not to activate their buy option and he returned to Sunderland at the end of the season.

Ajax have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the campaign under the stewardship of former Girona boss Michel and currently sit fourth in the Eredivisie.

The club play host to their rivals PSV Eindhoven on Saturday and Adingra could feature if his loan move is completed in time.
