Judd Trump v Wu Yize Prediction

Best Bet: Judd Trump to win @ 8/13

A real cracker of a semi-final awaits in Shanghai as world number one Judd Trump takes on world champion Wu Yize in this year’s Shanghai Masters.

The Ace in the Pack has the head-to-head advantage between these two and definitely has the experience edge at this tournament, having reached the final four times.

However, he will want to put the memory of the last meeting between this pair firmly behind him. At the 2025 International Championship Trump was 4-0 up, before losing 6-4 to the Chinese star.

Yize has been basking in the glow of winning the World Championship back in May and he will have been pleased that the first tournament of the new season will be played in his home country.

He beat fellow countryman Si Jiahui 6-2 in his opening game before overcoming Shaun Murphy in a real nail-biter in the quarter-finals, coming from 5-4 down to sneak a victory in a last-frame decider.

Judd Trump has not had nearly as arduous a route to the last four, beating Barry Hawkins 6-4 before wiping the floor with John Higgins, winning 6-0 in a match which saw the Bristolian make a remarkable five centuries.

The Wizard of Wishaw could only watch on as Trump worked his magic, limiting his opponent to just 37 points in the entire match.

It is impossible to ignore a player in that kind of form and Trump’s electric quarter-final showing, coupled with his experience in his tournament, means that he is worth siding with to come out on top.

Alternative Bet: Judd Trump highest break in match @ 8/11

Judd Trump has already made a break of 142 at this year’s tournament, second only to Xiao Guodong’s 147 in the highest break of the tournament, and he is fancied to have the highest score of this match against Wu Yize when the pair meet.

Trump has already made five centuries and Yize’s attacking style can leave opportunities for his opponents to score heavily.

The Chinese star is feared but with a player in as good a scoring form as Trump has been, he is worth siding with to top score in what should be an enthralling semi-final.
