Sheffield Wednesday are exploring a deal to sign Stockport County attacking midfielder Odin Bailey this summer.
Bailey has spent the last three and a half seasons at the League One side and has scored 12 goals in 140 appearances.
The 26-year-old joined on an initial loan deal from Salford City in the 2023/24 season prior to signing a permanent deal with the club.
Bailey is set to depart Edgeley Park this summer, with Championship newcomers Lincoln City mooted as one of the clubs with an interest.
Sheffield Star reporter Alex Miller has confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday have now joined the race to snap up the player on a free transfer.
The Owls endured a turbulent season on and off the field last season as they were relegated from the Championship.
However, with the news that they will start next season without a points deduction, Henrik Pedersen's side have been installed as one of the League One promotion favourites.
Bailey is a versatile attacking midfielder who can operate in a number of roles behind a central striker.
He is also capable of doing a job defensively if the Owls pursue a counter-attacking approach next season.
With a number of EFL clubs linked with a move, Wednesday may need to move quickly to secure what could be a vital piece in their promotion jigsaw.
