Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City have been linked with a move for in-demand Peterborough United midfielder Archie Collins.
Collins arrived at Peterborough in the summer of 2023 as he left Exeter City to pen a three-year deal.
The midfielder had been an integral part of the team at Exeter as he helped the club win promotion to League One in his final season.
He has gone on to become a mainstay in the third-tier at Peterborough and he has made 159 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals.
Collins is out of contract this summer and a host of teams throughout the EFL have been linked with a move.
Portsmouth are no longer in the race to sign the player after manager John Mousinho confirmed that the club would not be pursuing a move.
Two of the League One promotion favourites for next season have now been mooted as potential destinations for Collins.
Sheffield Wednesday endured a miserable season in the Championship but they have been buoyed by the fact that they will start the League One campaign without a points deduction.
The Owls are undergoing a major overhaul of their squad this summer and the possible arrival of Collins would add undoubted quality.
Leicester are also expected to challenge at the top of the third-tier after suffering back-to-back relegations in the last two seasons.
New manager Russell Martin could lose a number of big names over the next two months and he could plug one of those gaps with an eye-catching free transfer in the form of the Peterborough star.
