Former Sevilla FC defender Sergio Ramos, in partnership with the investment group Five Eleven Capital, has reached a preliminary agreement with the club's current shareholders for a potential takeover.
The deal, which is reportedly valued at €450 million, is pending finalisation and official authorisation.
Initial contact between the parties began in January, with negotiations accelerating over two crucial meetings this week.
The first meeting laid the groundwork, leaving key details to be ironed out, including payment schedules, financial guarantees and the specific identities of the investors involved.
These final points were reportedly resolved in a second meeting attended by Martín Ink, the CEO of Five Eleven Capital and, following this discussion, both sides appear to have reached a deal.
The total value of the deal is set at €450 million, however, this figure is contingent on Sevilla maintaining their top-flight status. Should the team be relegated, the purchase price would be reduced, and the payment timeline extended.
The agreement also includes a clause for an additional payment if the club were to be relegated but then secure promotion back to the first division by the 2027/28 season, bringing the final sum closer to the original €450 million.
If the deal proceeds, Ramos and his investment partners would acquire an 80% stake in Sevilla - a club for which Ramos made 87 appearances for over two stints at the club.
The transaction requires approval from Spain's National Sports Council (CSD), as any acquisition exceeding 25% of a public limited sports company (SAD) is subject to its oversight.
The takeover would lead to the departure of the current board of directors, with the composition of the future board and the specific role Sergio Ramos would assume within the club's new structure not yet specified.
Despite being 13th in La Liga with only three matches to go, the competitive nature of the Spanish first division this season means that they are only one point outside of the bottom three, with relegation still a real possibility for the five-time Europa League winners.
