Serena Williams is set to make her Grand Slam return having received a wildcard for Wimbledon.
After winning back-to-back in 2015 and 2016, Williams missed 2017 but was runner-up in 2018 and 2019, losing to Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep respectively.
Covid-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 edition, with Williams falling to first-round defeats in 2021 and 2022.
The 44-year-old made her return to the court after a four-year absence, partnering Victoria Mboko at Queen's where she was technically undefeated, winning her first match before a knee injury forced Mboko's withdrawal.
Williams then partnered Karolina Muchova in Berlin, losing their first-round match 6-4 6-4, though did say she felt like she was making good progress, sparking more anticipation of a Wimbledon entry.
Williams will now partner sister Venus in doubles at Wimbledon where they were six-time champions together, and also received a wildcard for the singles draw.
Venus and Serena are 12/1 sixth favourites in the women's doubles, with Serena joint-10th favourite in the singles draw at 28/1.
Qualifying takes places this week, with the women's singles draw being held on Friday 26th June, when Williams will find out her first-round opponent.
