Conor Benn looks set to be finally heading into a world title fight after he re-signed with Dana White and Zuffa Boxing.
Benn's controversial switch from Matchroom to Zuffa Boxing earlier this year made him one of the most talked about figures in all of sports.
He made his debut under the Zuffa banner earlier this month, comfortably defeating former world champion Regis Prograis on the Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov undercard on Netflix.
Speaking after Benn agreed a new five-fight deal with the upstart organisation UFC president Dana White revealed that plans are underway for Benn to take on WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia in August.
Benn has been the betting favourite in almost all of his fights since turning professional in April 2016 but he is the underdog against the 27-year-old Garcia.
Famed for his speed and KO power, Garcia has fought a higher level of competition than Benn including the likes of Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney and Rolando Romero.
In his most recent outing he dominated Mario Barrios for the WBC belt, scoring a knockdown in the first round and remaining in complete control throughout the 12 rounds to get the win via decision and improve his record to 25-2 (1 NC).
Benn's win over Prograis has made him the mandatory challenger for the WBC title so it seems like it will be merely a matter of time before the two men meet inside the ring with championship gold on the line.
