Talks are ramping up concerning a potential 'mega-fight' between Ryan Garcia and Floyd Mayweather.
After a turbulent few years -- both inside and outside of the ring -- Garcia has returned with a vengeance in 2026 and sits amongst the elite in the welterweight division.
After losing to Rolando Romero in May 2025, 'King Ry' overcame Mario Barrios in utterly convincing unanimous decision fashion in February to clinch the WBC welterweight title -- becoming the world champion for the first time.
Many had given the American the edge ahead of his title defence against Conor Benn last month, but few expected him to dispose of the Brit quite as convincingly as he did, recording a TKO victory in round two to demonstrate the colossal skill gap between the two fighters.
Garica has never been shy of calling out potential opponents, and all-time great Mayweather is the latest to experience the wrath of the welterweight champion.
As per Fight Hype, sources suggest that talks are underway for a 'mega-fight' between Garica and Mayweather.
Garcia took to X to set the conditions for a potential bout with the former five-weight world champion.
He said:
"And no I wouldn’t do an exhibition. I want his 0 on the f****** line. How much does he actually think he got left?
"I’m ready Floyd, remember you made this call. I’m just returning the favor. Offer is on the table.
"Accept or not, if not I move forward as I have been."
'Money' Mayweather was scheduled to return to the ring on September 26th against Manny Pacquiao, but a new date is set to be announced in 2027 after legal and contractual disputes.
It's yet to be seen as to whether the rematch will follow through or collapse, but the arranged September clash was set to be a professional bout -- which would have given Pacquiao the chance to break the American's undefeated record, 11 years on from Mayweather's victory over 'PacMan' at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
While the 50-0 all-time great has fought in numerous exhibition contests in recent years -- including bouts against Logan Paul, Deji Olatunji and Aaron Chalmers -- his last professional fight dates back to August 2017, where he defeated MMA star Conor McGregor via TKO in the 10th round.
As of right now, reports linking the 49-year-old to a return to the ring against Garcia are likely premature, but the fight would undoubtedly produce colossal numbers given the stature of the American boxers.
