EFL pundit Tom Garratt believes Russell Martin should have resigned in the immediate aftermath of Leicester City's 4-0 hammering at home to Oxford United on Saturday.
The beleaguered Foxes slumped to their heaviest defeat in the third tier as a brace from Mark Harris inspired Aaron Ramsey's U's to a comprehensive triumph at the King Power Stadium.
The result leaves Leicester 17th in League One after five matches, accruing five points with just one win - a 2-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle four days earlier - to show for their efforts so far.
Disillusioned Leicester fans were not afraid to voice their discontent at the humiliating performance, with large sections of the stadium joining in with Oxford supporters and their rendition of "you're getting sacked in the morning".
With the pressure mounting on Martin to revive the club's fortunes, Garratt and his co-host on the The Pyramid Podcast, Callum Fowler, were critical of Leicester's lacklustre defending and the style of play being implemented by the former Southampton and Rangers boss.
Garratt said: "The Oxford goals, they've taken them well but it's so easy for them. No one's even pressing or trying to stop crosses, or they're just half pressing and dangling a leg.
"When it goes 3-0, you think you can't concede any more because it's embarrasing, and then they concede a fourth."
Fowler added: "They've got the highest line I've ever seen and then there's always one bloke 15 yards behind. It's like a zigzag. They're so badly coached. You might be in League One but if you can't hold a line then you've got no chance. It's terrible.
"Fixture wise they've got Stockport away next, then us (Barnsley) away. I think if he loses his next two then he's gone."
It's certainly a testing period for Leicester and the trip to Edgeley Park on Saturday to face Stockport County is far from an enticing fixture for the Foxes.
Jim McNulty's side sit third in the table off the back of a thumping 4-0 victory over Wigan Athletic and Stockport are joint-top scorers in the division, netting 13 times in their opening five fixtures.
On Martin's future, Garratt said: "I'll be honest, I think he should have resigned that night (on Saturday).
"They're top for average possession, but then they're 18th for xG because they're creating nothing. They need to take more risks and get the ball forward quicker, instead of dillydallying with this tiki taka possession.
"Teams are going to let Leicester have the ball anyway. No one is going to the King Power to have more possession.
"It's just the unwillingness to change."
