The Super League play-offs get underway on Friday and Wakefield Trinity will be looking to claim bragging rights once again when they welcome Leigh Leopards to the DIY Kitchens Stadium.
Leigh hosted Wakefield last week in the final regular season fixture for both sides, with Trinity coming out on top in a 19-8 victory.
Daryl Powell's team have now won both meetings between the two clubs this season and after finishing fourth, they get home advantage in the Eliminators.
Leigh only finished four points behind them and they will look to lean on last year's play-off experience, when they beat Wakefield 26-10 at home.
Best Bet - Wakefield Trinity -4.5 @ 1/1
Alternative Bet - To win both halves - Neither team @ 8/13
Bet Builder - Tom Johnstone to score a try, Wakefield Trinity to win by 1-12 points & Successful drop goal - Yes @ 18/1
Best Bet: Wakefield Trinity -4.5 @ 1/1
Last week's meeting was a great yardstick, even though it was Leigh that hosted that regular-season matchup.
Powell set his team up perfectly and Wakefield were happy to play the game as if it were a playoff contest. They kicked two penalties and an early drop goal at the end of the first half, which helped keep Leigh on the back foot.
Tactics matter in games of this magnitude, and Wakefield have proven they can neutralise Leigh's best weapons. The Leopards will be without prop Robbie Mulhern and his absence will be a blow, as it robs his side of some of their mobility in the pack.
Wakefield secured a top-four finish in Super League for the first time ever and the atmosphere will be electric.
Getting tickets to a Wakefield home game this year has been a challenge and they should be able to grind out another important win as they look to move one step closer to Old Trafford.
Powell has the greater strength in depth to lean on and that should pay dividends come full-time.
Alternative Bet: To win both halves - Neither team @ 8/13
Games of this magnitude are often very difficult to predict and on their day, Leigh are capable of beating Wakefield. The Leopards have the superior playoff experience and proved on this very stage last season that they can overcome Trinity.
While over 80 minutes they should fall short, Leigh are certainly capable of learning from last week's defeat and their best chance of victory is to start strong and try to frustrate their hosts.
The return of Isaac Liu should help Leigh's pack, as his leadership and ability to pick up plenty of metres through the middle of the park will provide his team with more of a platform in the game.
These two sides could cancel each other out for large parts and with so much riding on the match, it is difficult to envisage a one-sided affair.
Tom Johnstone to score a try
Wakefield Trinity to win by 1-12 points
Successful drop goal - Yes
Pays @ 18/1
Wakefield should be able to dominate the territory battle thanks to their superior bench and once Leigh's defence starts to make mistakes, winger Tom Johnstone could profit.
He has scored 18 tries so far this season in Super League, with two of them coming in last week's clash with Leigh.
Trinity have won both 2026 meetings by 11 points or fewer, so expect another close affair, especially in a playoff game.
Powell's team converted a successful drop goal last week and in a fixture that should go down to the wire, it would not be a surprise to see both teams try to score a one-pointer in order to gain some vital momentum.
