Forest Green Rovers boss Robbie Savage is in talks with Peterborough United regarding their vacant managerial position.
Savage will not be in the dugout for Forest Green's home game with Wealdstone in the National League on Tuesday evening.
Forest Green have confirmed that Savage has been granted permission to speak to another club, while the former Wales international was tightlipped about the Peterborough job at the weekend.
Peterborough are on the lookout for a new manager following the sacking of Luke Williams nine days ago.
Williams led the club to safety last season but he was only able to accumulate five points from Peterborough's first seven League One fixtures this season.
The club are believed to be interviewing more than one candidate this week and Savage has emerged as a leading contender for the role.
After guiding Macclesfield to promotion to the National League North in the 2024/25 season, Savage joined Forest Green prior to the start of last season.
He led the club into the play-offs but they came unstuck at the quarter-final stage as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Boreham Wood after extra-time.
Forest Green are currently 12th in the National League table following a run of three matches without a win, but Savage could now have the opportunity to jump two leagues to join Peterborough.
