Rico Lewis has been called into the England squad for Tuesday's UEFA Nations League fixture against Czechia following the withdrawal of his Manchester City team-mate Nico O'Reilly.
O'Reilly featured in England's 3-2 defeat to Spain, but the left-back was forced out of the 2-0 victory over Czechia against Prague due to injury and was subsequently sent back to his club for further assessment.
Thomas Tuchel decided against naming an immediate replacement ahead of England's trip to Rijeka to face Croatia, where Lewis Hall started before being replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly - although it was James Garner who slotted into the left-back position.
However, Tuchel has now decided to fill the void in his squad for Tuesday's visit of Czechia by adding Lewis to his squad from the Under-21s.
Lewis helped Lee Carsley's Young Lions secure qualification for the 2027 UEFA U21 European Championships and will now team up with the senior squad.
The versatile Man City defender has won five caps for England, the last of which was in November 2024 during Carsley's interim spell as boss prior to Tuchel's arrival.
Lewis has found first-team opportunities at a premium under Enzo Maresca this season with only three appearances in all competitions.
Featuring in 30 minutes of the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, Lewis has only made one start, which came against Norwich City in the EFL Cup. His Premier League action has been restricted to just 57 minutes against Bournemouth.
Victory against Czechia should all but confirm England's spot in the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals.
