Reading are reportedly closing in on a permanent deal to sign George Earthy from West Ham.
A graduate of the famed West Ham academy, Earthy has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Championship at Bristol City, and was named the Robins' Young Player of the Year in 2024-25.
The Hammers' relegation from the Premier League appeared to open the door for Earthy to play a bigger role for his boyhood club but it appears his future will lie elsewhere.
According to a report from the West Ham Way, the 21-year-old has undergone a medical at Reading ahead of a permanent move to the Madejski Stadium.
Should the deal be completed as expected it will see Earthy become the club's fourth senior signing of the summer after Kyreece Lisbie, Udoka Godwin-Malife and Jacob Brown.
The Royals kicked off their League One campaign on Saturday, losing 4-3 to Luton Town following a dramatic stoppage-time winner from Gideon Kouda.
A creative midfielder with a versatile range of passing, Earthy has represented England at multiple youth levels, including two appearances for the Young Lions.
In 2023 he was an integral part of the team that were crowned FA Youth Cup winners, and followed that up by making his senior debut the following year.
In all Earthy has made 5 senior appearances for West Ham in all competitions, and scored in the club's Premier League win over Luton in May 2024.
