Notts County forward Alassana Jatta has sealed a move to Portuguese first division outfit Casa Pia.
The 27-year-old made the move to the banks of the River Trent from Danish Superliga side Viborg FF nearing two-and-a-half years ago and has been an extremely important player ever since.
Jatta played 89 times for the Magpies, scoring 43 goals and laying on a further 11 assists.
To go alongside his impressive goalscoring record, he also played a key role in Notts County's return to third tier of English football via the League Two playoffs last season. The Gambia international netted the opening goal in a momentous 3-0 victory over Salford at Wembley.
County owners Chris and Alex Reedtz, alongside Director of Football, Richard Montague, released a joint statement, saying: “While we would have gladly retained Alassana’s services for the forthcoming campaign, it has become clear that he sees his future elsewhere.
“During his time with us, we have rejected several bids which did not meet our valuation – however we feel this latest offer represents fair value and he therefore moves on with our thanks and best wishes for the future.”
Jatta's departure will do damage to County's prospects this season as they aim to achieve promotion to the second tier for the first time in more than 36 years.
Fortunately, incomings have been fairly frequent over the summer at Meadow Lane; Martin Paterson adding eight players to his squad so far.
Aussie striker Luka Smyth, who has joined the club from Finnish side VPS, scored seven goals in 13 Veikkausliiga starts in 2026 and is 40/1 to finish as League One's top goalscorer.
