Preston North End have confirmed the appointment of Graham Alexander as the club's new manager.
A club statement read: "‘Grezza’ returns to lead North End as manager, 14 years after hanging up his boots as a player at Deepdale back in 2012 and now with a wealth of managerial experience under his belt. He also brings in former North Ender and his long-term assistant, Chris Lucketti."
Few people know Deepdale quite like Alexander, ranking third in the all-time appearance standings for the Lilywhites with 410.
He enjoyed two sepatate stints with Preston during his professional playing days, temporarily extending his duties with the club during his second spell when becoming joint-caretaker manager following Phil Brown's dismissal in December 2011.
Alexander was assigned as Head of Youth Development at Preston once his playing responsibilities concluded, but he departed to commence his managerial career at Fleetwood Town just six months later.
After nearly a decade and a half away from the Lancashire outfit, Alexander returns, and this time his accountability is greater than ever before.
Preston are priced at 4/6 to face the drop to League One after a dismal start to the 2026/27 Championship season.
The Lilywhites fell to defeat in all of their first four second tier contests and had to wait until 5th September to earn their first victory of the season, where they overcame Blackburn Rovers 2-1.
