Brian Brobbey completed the rare feat of scoring a Premier League hat-trick whilst still coming out on the losing team during Sunderland's 5-3 away loss to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
The Dutch forward was the cause of major defensive issues for the Citizens, scoring to get Sunderland back on level terms twice in the match, before completing his maiden English top-flight treble just before the hour mark.
Erling Haaland capped off yet another City win, meaning that Brobbey is now part of a very exclusive club.
We take a look at which other players who, despite scoring a Premier League hat-trick, have ended up on the losing side...
Matt Le Tissier - Oldham v Southampton, 1993 & Southampton v Nottingham Forest, 1995
Given there has been more than 200 players to net a Premier League hat-trick, you have to be pretty unlucky to score one and still come out with nothing from the game.
Or, in the case of Matt Le Tissier, it could happen twice.
The ex-England international -- in typical fashion -- netted a fine treble against Oldham, but the Latics managed one more as they pulled off one of the all-time great escapes to retain their top-flight status for the following season.
Little over two years later and Le Tissier was at it again, this time netting two free-kicks and a penalty at the Dell against Nottingham Forest. However, he could not stop the Tricky Trees from scoring four in reply as Saints fell to defeat on home soil.
Dion Dublin - Sheffield Wednesday v Coventry, 1995
Coventry only made their return to the top-flight this year, but were a regular fixture throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
Striker Dion Dublin enjoyed his most prolific spell in front of goal whilst playing for the Sky Blues, scoring 61 times across five seasons in the Midlands. A proper penalty box striker, Dublin hammered home two headers and added a third from close range to complete his first PL hat-trick against Sheffield Wednesday in 1995.
It was Wednesday who would come out on top though; Mark Bright grabbing a late winner for the Owls.
Dwight Yorke - Newcastle v Aston Villa, 1996
Dwight Yorke is the scorer of four Premier League hat-tricks, three of which saw him come out on the winning side when playing for Manchester United. Yorke's sole top-flight treble for Aston Villa ended in a 4-3 defeat to Newcastle.
Alan Shearer added to a 22-minute Les Ferdinand brace before Steve Howey bagged Newcastle's fourth in the 67th minute.
Roque Santa Cruz - Wigan v Blackburn, 2007
Paraguayan marksman Roque Santa Cruz remains a Premier League cult hero mainly for his spell with Blackburn Rovers at the back end of the 2000s.
The hat-trick he scored against Wigan in 2007 was ultimately in vain as Marcus Bent fired in a treble of his own to help his side achieve a 5-3 success.
Curiously, Santa Cruz is still playing to this day and not lost his goalscoring touch, finding the net three times in four starts for Nacional Asuncion.
Brian Brobbey - Man City v Sunderland, 2026
Almost 20 years after the last, Brobbey became just the fifth player to add his name to this rather unfortunate list.
The 24-year-old did get his name on a more prestigious list, however. Brobbey joins Dennis Bergkamp, Marc Overmars, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robin van Persie, Dirk Kuyt, Georginio Wijnaldum and Justin Kluivert as one nine Dutchmen to net a hat-trick in England's top-flight.
