Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard have been mooted as potential replacements for Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson.
The Wrexham boss has received criticism from some supporters after overseeing just two Championship wins so far this season.
Parkinson has guided Wrexham to three successive promotions, while they came within a whisker of reaching the Championship play-offs last season.
Their progress has stalled slightly in recent times and there is the sense that Parkinson is under pressure at the club.
Replacing Parkinson at this stage would feel particularly harsh, but Parker and Gerrard have already been mentioned as alternatives.
Reports from talkSPORT suggest that Parkinson's future is currently a topic of conversation at Wrexham.
It is claimed that former Rangers and Aston Villa manager Gerrard is open to the idea of taking the job if it becomes available.
Gerrard has been out of work since leaving Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq in January 2025 and he will feel as though he has a point to prove.
Championship promotion expert Parker is another name being considered after previously guiding Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley into the Premier League.
He is looking to return to the dugout after leaving Burnley towards the end of last season and the project at Wrexham could appeal.
Wrexham return to action when they entertain bottom side Preston North End in the Championship on Saturday and anything less than three points could see the noise increased around Parkinson.
