Notts County are reportedly looking to conclude a deal to sign striker Daniel Kanu on loan from Championship side Charlton Athletic.
Journalist Pete O'Rourke has reported that the Magpies are set to win the race to acquire the services of the 21-year-old forward.
Kanu is unlikely to break into Charlton's team in the immediate future and the opportunity to secure first-team football could benefit the Addicks this time next year.
After making 17 appearances as Charlton were promoted from League One in the 2024/25 campaign, Kanu spent last season on loan at Walsall in League Two.
The striker enjoyed a standout season as he found the net 18 times across all competitions for the Saddlers.
Notts County secured promotion from League Two last season as they overwhelmed Salford City in the play-off final.
However, they lost their star man over the summer as Alassana Jatta departed to join Portuguese oufit Casa Pia.
Manager Martin Paterson has been keen to strengthen his attacking options since and Kanu would be a fine addition to the Magpies squad.
Notts County have performed admirably in their opening League One fixtures after claiming a point against both Leicester City and Luton Town.
They return to action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Burton Albion at Meadow Lane.
