Next Aberdeen Manager: Five contenders to replace Stephen Robinson

We take a look at the contenders to be the next manager of Aberdeen following their 4-0 home defeat to Hibernian.

The Dons were condemned to their third successive Scottish Premiership defeat as Hibernian moved off the bottom of the table with a comfortable win.

As a result, Stephen Robinson's side are now second from bottom heading into the international break and they are only two points above bottom side Kilmarnock.

Robinson has received increased criticism from Aberdeen supporters in the last couple of weeks as their dismal start to the season has continued.

Here are our top five contenders to be the next Aberdeen manager.

Next Aberdeen Manager Contenders

John McGlynn

John McGlynn continues to work wonders in his current role as Falkirk manager.

The 64-year-old guided the Bairns to a sixth-placed finish last season and the club are currently fourth after four successive league wins.

He would provide a wealth of experience and the Aberdeen role would be difficult to turn down despite his status at Falkirk.

Conor Hourihane

Conor Hourihane left his role as assistant manager at Leicester City earlier this week.

The former Republic of Ireland midfielder departed after expressing his intentions to return to management.

He showed glimpses of his credentials at Barnsley last season and a move to Scotland could appeal.

Mark Wilson

Mark Wilson is currently in charge of Championship leaders Partick Thistle.

The 42-year-old will be hopeful of sustaining a promotion challenge as he looks to guide Partick back into the top-flight.

Managing Aberdeen would be a step up but he has forged a reputation as one of the brightest young managers in Scotland.

Steve Clarke

Could the former Scotland manager be tempted back into the dugout?

He looked weary as Scotland bowed out of the World Cup at the group stage in the summer, but he has had the chance to refresh his batteries.

Clarke is unlikely to be short of offers if he does want to manage again.

David Gray

David Gray is out of work after being sacked at Hibernian in September.

Hibs finished fifth last season but things did not go to plan this time around, with the club languishing near the foot of the table.

He may want to get stuck back in and Aberdeen could be the ideal setting.
