After Russell Westbrook became the first player in NBA history to record 200 triple-doubles, we look at the six players to have achieved the feat 100 times or more.
The triple-double wasn't officially recorded in the NBA until the 1979/80 season, where players recorded double digits in points, rebounds and assists, though steals and blocked shots - while rare - also count towards a triple-double.
We now see triple-doubles more than ever, at a rate of around once every seven games or so.
Below is the full list of every player with 100+ regular season triple-doubles.
Making his name at the Oklahoma City Thunder, Westbrook was named NBA MVP in 2017 after recording a historic 43 triple-doubles before leaving after nine years in the Sooner State.
Westbrook recorded his 100th triple-double - becoming the fourth player in NBA history to reach the milestone at that time - in March 2018. Remarkably, having taken 10 seasons to reach 100 triple-doubles, it's taken just seven more seasons, including the ill-fated spell in Los Angeles, to reach 200.
Spending much of his career with the Cincinnati Royals, Oscar Robertson was the first player - and to date one of only two players - to have averaged a triple-double in a season. Robertson held the NBA record for the most triple-doubles from the 1961-62 season until being overtake by Westbrook in the 2020/21 campaign.
Although Magic Johnson never averaged a triple-double in a season, he did average a double-double in nine consecutive seasons with the LA Lakers, and remains the career leader in post-season triple-doubles.
The only center to have cleared the 100 triple-double milestone, Nikola Jokic has twice led the NBA in triple-doubles over a season, and holds the record for the fastest triple-double in NBA history, achieved in 14 minutes and 33 seconds against the Milwaukee Bucks on 15th February 2018.
Already a four-time NBA champion and four-time NBA MVP, the 2021/22 season with the LA Lakers saw LeBron James not only become the fifth player to reach 100 triple-doubles, but also become the only player to record at least 10,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists.
A five-time NBA leader in assists, combined with his strong rebounding made Jason Kidd a regular triple-double threat. Now sixth on the list of NBA triple-doubles, Kidd retired in third place behind only Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson.
