Hornchurch and Torquay go head-to-head for a place in the National League on Saturday afternoon.
Second and third in the division, both sides missed out on automatic promotion to the tier above, failing to catch champions Worthing whose end of season form proved too strong for their rivals.
Courtesy of their respective league positions, Hornchurch and Torquay evaded a playoff quarter-final, instead advancing straight to the semis, with teams from third down to seventh having to win an extra game to reach the last four.
This weekend's encounter looks fairly even on paper, with just one point separating the sides across the rigorous 46-game National League South campaign. However, that one point could yet prove to be crucial as Hornchurch's higher league finishing position gives them home advantage here.
Away side Torquay arrive in marginally better form, having won six of their last seven fixtures to secure third place from Dorking, Hemel Hempstead and Weston Super Mare who could only manage draws on the final day.
The Gulls are faced with a nine hour round-trip on Saturday, but it is one that has yielded success in the past, recording a 2-1 win at the back end of January.
Although not in as impressive form as their rivals, Hornchurch have still only lost one of their last nine matches and arrive here off the back of a convincing 2-0 win against Weston Super Mare in the playoff semi-finals.
