More than 40,000 bets paid out on Germany v Ivory Coast thanks to Sub On, Play On

More than 40,000 customers benefitted from bet365's Sub On, Play On offer as Deniz Undav scored a brace for Germany.

It's not been the easiest time for punters in terms of match results World Cup with the likes of Curacao and Cape Verde recording remarkable draws, but a number of well backed goalscorers have found the net.

Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Kai Havertz all bagged braces in their opening game with Lionel Messi scoring a hat-trick. Mikel Oyarzabal joined the party with two against Saudi Arabia, while Lamine Yamal opened his account, with Vinicius Junior scoring in each of Brazil's first two matches.

bet365's Steve Freeth said: "There was some negativity towards the 48-team format but the likes of Curacao and Cape Verde have been the toast of the trading room with some coupon-busting performances.

"Scotland are still odds-on to qualify for the knockout stages despite their narrow defeat to Morocco. It was a good result for accumulators with 4/6 Morocco obliging, as well as Ismael Saibari scoring as well as the 7/1 shot winning the Player of the Match award.

"1/10 Brazil beat Haiti with another Player of the Match performance from Vinicius Junior, who went off at an extremely well-backed 5/4 to win the award. We did have a result in the late game, as the not-so-dark horses Turkey once again found themselves heading home early after failing to convert any of their 33 shots against 10-men Paraguay.

"Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo both helped themselves to braces with substitute Crysencio Summerville assisting the fourth and scoring the fifth. That was good news for backers of the player he replaced, Donyell Malen, with our Sub On Play On offer showing its worth once again.

"The Sub On, Play On concession was also evident in the Germany versus Ivory Coast game as Deniz Undav continued his good form by scoring twice off the bench when coming on for Jamal Musiala. We had over 40,000 bets involving Musiala to score anytime (15/8) and 1,300 on him to score a brace (14/1).

"We were doffing our caps to Curacao keeper Eloy Room after he kept out Ecuador’s 15 shots on target as the 1/7 pokes failed to score in Kansas, but we finished in the early hours of Sunday morning with 2/5 Japan scoring four against Tunisia.

"1/10 Spain also scored four times as Lamine Yamal arrived at the party, shortening into 10/1 for the Golden Ball with the well backed Mikel Oyarzabal also showing his finishing qualities, going into 10/1 to finish as the leading goalscorer.

"Belgium backers were once again left frustrated with the 2/5 shots drawing again, this time to Iran and this was quickly followed by 2/5 Uruguay drawing with Cape Verde as we clawed back the Spain losses. With one game to go, 4/7 Cape Verde find themselves in with a real chance of progressing through to the knockout stages."
