Newly-promoted Coventry City have announced their 12th signing of the summer, two days after the window slammed shut.
Yann Gboho joins from French side Toulouse on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.
The Sky Blues had a deal agreed for the 25-year-old prior to the transfer deadline, however, official confirmation had to be delayed whilst FIFA checked that the documentation was in order.
Gboho -- who is the cousin of Paris Saint-Germain winger Desire Doue -- was reportedly on the verge of joining Major League Soccer outfit Kansas City FC until the deal fell through at the last minute.
The Midlands side announced the signing on Friday afternoon, saying: "Coventry City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Yann Gboho.
"The winger joins the Sky Blues on a permanent contract from Ligue 1 side Toulouse, subject to UK visa approval. Gboho scored 19 goals and contributed with 12 assists during his two-and-a-half-year stint with the French outfit."
Prior to his €2.5m switch to Ligue 1, Gboho plied his trade for Belgium Pro League side Cercle Brugge, registering nine goal contributions in 11 league starts during his maiden campaign in 2022/23.
Whilst his output for Toulouse hasn't been as impressive, he compares favourably to some of the most productive dribblers in the French top-flight; ranking similarly to Ousmane Dembele, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele for successful take-ons, final third carries and fouls won.
With Gboho joining for a reported €12m, it means that Coventry have spent the fifth-highest amount of money by a promoted club in Premier League history. Frank Lampard's squad has been significantly bolstered over the summer months, breaking their transfer record on numerous occasions, most recently with the capture of Ghanian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.
It hasn't quite paid for the Sky Blues yet though, losses to Arsenal and Hull in their opening two games has seen their relegation price shorten into 4/9.
