Middlesbrough have reportedly named their price for Hayden Hackney as multiple clubs look to sign the Championship Player of the Year.
Hackney is expected to depart his boyhood club this summer, with multiple Premier League clubs said to be interested in securing his signature.
The 23-year-old was instrumental in helping Boro reach the Championship play-offs last season, making 38 appearances and netting five goals as they ultimately finished fifth in the table.
However, injury precluded his involvement in much of the club's run-in and subsequent play-off campaign, and he was limited to a cameo against Hull City at Wembley as a late winner from Oli McBurnie sent the Tigers to the Premier League.
Hackney remaining at the Riverside was always going to be contingent on the club on the club securing promotion, and now Boro are said to be willing to cash in on their star player as they prepare for a ninth consecutive season in the second tier.
The matter is complicated further by the fact that Hackney has just 12 months remaining on the deal he signed in the summer of 2023 during Michael Carrick's time in charge at the club.
As such, Middlesbrough are aware that they will need to adjust their valuation accordingly, and, according to a report from the Daily Mail, they are prepared to sell Hackney for £20million, plus £5million.
While a still a significant fee for a Championship side, Boro likely will have hoped to have generated more for arguably their most promising academy graduate since Stuart Downing.
Of the clubs to have been linked with Hackney, Everton are said to be leading the race to sign the midfielder, with Crystal Palace and Hull City also interested in signing him.
The Toffees will need to table a significantly improved offer in order to meet Boro's valuation however.
The club's initial bid reportedly included an upfront fee of just £11million for the former England youth international, with an additional £7m in bonuses.
