Manchester United return to action in the UEFA Champions League when welcoming Roma to Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils have endured a torrid time of late, and while Michael Carrick was backed ahead of the club's Premier League contest against Chelsea, the pressure is mounting on the manager after yet another defeat.
Matheus Cunha's first half opener was disallowed for an offside in the build up, and Man Utd never looked like getting back into the game after Morgan Rogers scored for Xabi Alonso's outfit in the 50th minute. Lisandro Martinez's dismissal made matters even worse for the visitors in the 63rd minute, and Cole Palmer capitalised from the spot to top off a convincing 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
While they emerged victorious upon their return to the UEFA Champions League against Sabah -- winning 4-0 -- they've since fell to defeats against Atletico de Madrid and Como, and so victory over Roma in Matchweek 4 feels vital if they wish to keep their top eight hopes alive.
Carrick has provided an injury update on three first team Man Utd players ahead of the European clash.
Signed as a central defender from Lille for a fee in the region of £52m, Leny Yoro has seen the majority of his minutes come at right-back this season.
He was steadily eased into the starting XI due to injury concerns in the earlier stages of the campaign, and while he has started all of Man Utd's last four top-flight fixtures, Carrick revealed that he is still dealing with an ongoing tendon issue.
The Red Devils manager said: "Leny had a tendon issue that comes and goes. He has been managing it and has been fantastic since he has come back - one of our best players.
"I have been delighted with his performances. He is on a really good pathway."
After featuring in all 38 Premier League games last term, Luke Shaw has endured injury problems this season, while his club and international teammate Marcus Rashford has also been absent from all of Man Utd's last four matchday squads.
Speaking on the fitness levels of the English duo ahead of the Roma clash, Carrick said: "Luke will definitely not be available. Marcus we will have to see day-by-day."
