Mexico v England Player Ratings, Match Stats and Timeline

England booked their place in the World Cup quarter-finals with an enthralling 3-2 win over hosts Mexico.

A quick-fire double from Jude Bellingham saw the Three Lions take a huge step into the quarter-finals before a Julian Quinones goal closed the deficit before half-time.

A red card for Jarell Quansah jeopardised England's advantage before Harry Kane scored from the spot to make it 3-1.

Mexico then scored a penalty of their own with England having to defend for their lives to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

In what was never meant to be the most testing of World Cup knockout ties, the Three Lions went behind in the opening minutes before a Harry Kane doubled booked a date with Mexico at the Azteca.

Take a look at our player ratings and match stats below.

England Player Ratings

Jordan Pickford - 8

Two massive saves in the first half and dealt well with the aerial threat throughout. A welcome return to form.

Jarell Quansah - 5

A steady first-half performance undone by a reckless red card that could've sent England home.

Ezri Konsa - 6

Better when shifted to right-back, but failed to deal with the free-kick that led to Mexico's first.

Marc Guehi - 7

Hugely impressive when down to 10 men, excellent as ever in possession.

Nico O'Reilly - 7

Another impressive performance from the Manchester City man. Does he know he's 21?

Elliot Anderson - 6

Still not offering enough in possession.

Declan Rice - 7

Excellent carry up the field for England's first and played through the pain barrier to see out the 100+ minutes.

Bukayo Saka - 7

Had a quiet first half but made a telling contribution with a pinpoint cross to Jude Bellingham for his first.

Jude Bellingham - 9

Heroic. Herculean. Two goals, brilliant work in and out of possession. Left literally everything on the pitch.

Anthony Gordon - 8

Fantastic running in the first half, won the penalty that won the game and contributed defensively at the death.

Harry Kane - 8

Unlucky to give the penalty away, but scored from the spot when his country needed him, and teed up Bellingham for his second.

John Stones - 7

Exactly what England needed when down to 10 men. The assured older head kept those around him calm.

Djed Spence - 7

Much improved when up against it with a couple of crucial blocks.

Dan Burn - 7

Did exactly what he was brought on for with some big headed clearances.

Morgan Rogers - N/A

Chucked on at the last knockings to give Kane a rest.
