Mexico v England Odds: Three Lions 8/13 to progress

Take a look at the latest odds for Mexico v England in the World Cup round of 16.

Mexico qualified for the round of 16 when comfortably brushing aside an Ecuador outfit that looked a shadow of the side that beat Germany to book their place in the knockout rounds for what will be their final game at the Azteca at the 2026 World Cup.

England meanwhile were again made to work for their win, going behind in the opening minutes to DR Congo before two late goals secured their passage into the next round.

You have to go all the way back to 2013 for the last time Mexico lost at the Azteca, when going down 2-1 to Honduras in a World Cup qualifier. For their previous competitive defeat at the Azteca, you need to go back to another World Cup qualifier with Costa Rica in 2001.

It's a run that has seen them win the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup on home ground, twice beating then-world champions Brazil.

Of course, from England's point of view, these are the sorts of tests you must overcome to win a World Cup, and there are no simple paths to the final. Even Argentina, who do have a relatively straightforward run in the knockouts, could face Brazil or England to reach the final.

At altitude, England will want to be careful with how much energy they expend, and they'll be particularly keen to avoid extra time. The Three Lions are 6/5 to win in 90 minutes and 8/13 to qualify.
