Marcus Buckland's Horse Racing Betting Tips for Wednesday 26th August

Five meetings are scheduled across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, only one of which is over jumps.

Racing Post tipster, Marcus Buckland, has provided three recommendations for the day's action

Wednesday's Horse Racing Betting Tips

16:10 Newbury - Primal @ 6/5
16:15 Catterick - Call Margot @ 22/1
19:38 Bellewstown - Ifuknowuknow @ 5/1

16:10 Newbury - Primal @ 6/5

Andrew Balding's PRIMAL did wonders to finish in the money on his nursery debut at Glorious Goodwood last month and should be capable of exploiting a mark of 73 in the opener at Newbury.

The son of Starspangledbanner had little go right on the Sussex Downs, suffering interference soon after the start and being held up in traffic at a vital stage around 2f out.

Primal's winning chance was gone from that point, but he ticked off rivals at regular intervals when eventually in the clear and hit the line strongly, just a short-head behind the second.

He's only gone up 1lb for that, which is surprising, and this represents a significant ease in grade.

Oisin Murphy is on board for the first time since his debut.

16:15 Catterick - Call Margot @ 22/1

Gemmy Tutty's CALL MARGOT was desperately unlucky not to win the 3YO "Dash" at Epsom on Derby Day in May, the three-year-old rattling home from an impossible position to lose out by just three-quarters of a length after being trapped on the rail for much of the final 2f.

She's been a major disappointment since, reported to have run flat at Hamilton, finishing last of 18 at Goodwood (the race was won by his Epsom conqueror Naana's Shadow) and weakening quickly when down the field at York last time.

However, she's inching back down the weights as a result of those performances and looks worthy of a small interest in the hope that a return to a downhill track will reinvigorate her.

19:38 Bellewstown - Ifuknowuknow @ 5/1

Ifuknowuknow ran with plenty of credit in bumpers at Punchestown and Leopardstown towards the end of last year and likely won't need to improve on those efforts to take this.

The five-year-old ran a particularly eye-catching race on his debut at Punchestown last October, picking up strongly from the rear to be beaten a little over five lengths in fifth and recording a Racing Post Rating of 103.

That wasn't the strongest of races for the track, but both the first and second have won over hurdles recently, giving the form a timely boost.

He was beaten almost 20 lengths when seventh at Leopardstown on Boxing Day, but that was a hot race and the winner, The Mourne Rambler, went on to win the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.

The selection has since left Niall Maddan for Stephen Gerard Casey, but he remains in the same ownership and Aine O'Connor retains the ride.
