After the Red Devils focused on adding to their front line last summer, it seems clear newly confirmed permanent manager Michael Carrick has targeted central midfield as a position to strengthen ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

Ederson, who has three Brazil caps to his name, was included in Carlo Ancelotti's initial 55-man squad but missed out on a place in the World Cup this summer.

The 26-year-old has excelled in central midfield for the Serie A outfit and as well as helping to dominate play, he has added 16 goals to his name in 180 appearances.
