Manchester United have discovered their UEFA Champions League fate following the completion of the draw for this season's league.
After missing the previous two editions of the UEFA Champions League, Michael Carrick's side finished third in the Premier League last season to reclaim their place in Europe's elite club competition.
For a club that was accustomed to reaching the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League under Sir Alex Ferguson, United haven't progressed beyond the quarter-final stage since they finished runners-up to Barcelona in 2011. Only twice in the last 15 years have they reached the last eight, in 2013/14 and 2018/19.
This will be the club's first experience of the brand new format following UEFA’s radical shake-up of the competition ahead of the 2024/25 season.
As their current coefficient places them 25th in UEFA’s club rankings, United were included in Pot 2 for the draw.
The Red Devils have been pitted against two teams from the four different pots to make up their eight league phase matches. Four are played at home and four are played away, and they're unable to play English opposition.

Manchester United will renew their fabled rivalry against Bayern Munchen by hosting the Bundesliga champions, while a trip to the Wanda Metropolitano awaits the Red Devils to face Atletico Madrid.
From Pot 2, Roma will visit Manchester and Bruno Fernandes will return to the José Alvalade Stadium to face his former club Sporting CP.
United will encounter RB Leipzig and Villarreal from Pot 3, while Azerbaijani debutants Sabah will make the trip to Old Trafford.
Completing United's eight fixtures is the picturesque trip to Serie A side Como, who are managed by former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
