Manchester United have fresh injury concerns over Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw ahead of their trip to Atletico de Madrid.
Struggling United have just two wins to their name all season -- at home to Sabah and Ipswich Town -- having conceded a stoppage-time equaliser to 10-man Tottenham on Saturday, and may well be in for more misery in midweek as they return to the UEFA Champions League.
A trip to the Estadio Metropolitano is perhaps the last thing Michael Carrick needs having failed to win any of his last four games, and things won't be any easier without Mainoo and Shaw.
Shaw is the club's only recognised left-back with the position neglected in the summer transfer window, while back-up Noussair Mazraoui is currently injured.
Mainoo has been one of the few bright spots for United midfield, impressing so far this season, albeit without a complementary midfield partner. It is thought that introduction of Carlos Baleba could better platform the 21-year-old, but fans might need to wait a little longer to see them start together.
The Manchester Evening News's Steven Railston reported on X on Monday: "Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw absent from training. Decision to be made on whether they will travel to Madrid."
United are already without their only striker in Benjamin Sesko, with the Slovenian set for another spell on the sidelines, while Bruno Fernandes is reportedly managing an injury and was miles below his best in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham.
The mixed performances of Youri Tielemans following his arrival have jeopardised his place in midfield, while Andrey Santos hasn't started a Premier League game since the 2-0 defeat to Hull City.
