Manchester United's injury crisis worsened when Patrick Dorgu was forced off in Denmark's 2-0 win over Wales on Sunday evening.
Man Utd have endured an underwhelming start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign -- earning just five points in as many games -- and Michael Carrick may have a diminished squad to choose from upon their return from the international break.
England duo Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo were forced to withdraw from Thomas Tuchel's England squad due to respective injury problems. Meanwhile, striker Benjamin Sesko withdrew from Slovenia's squad due to a reoccurring shin injury that sidelined him for the Red Devils' trip to Fulham before the international break.
As the 20-time champions look to build Matthijs de Ligt back to full fitness, they've been dealt the crushing blow of Dorgu's potential absence.
We take a look at when the versatile Dane could return from injury for Man Utd.
Denmark boss Brian Riemer confirmed that Dorgu has sustained an injury and therefore returned to Man Utd for treatment.
While the severity of the setback is yet to be confirmed, it was reportedly a hamstring injury that forced Dorgu to be displaced by Mohamed Daramy in the 29th minute of Denmark's 2-0 win over Wales.
Man Utd supporters will be discouraged by the fact that the 21-year-old went down off the ball and limped straight down the tunnel.
Dorgu missed 12 games for club and country last term with a hamstring injury, and so the Red Devils medical team will be cautious in plotting the Dane's return to first team action.
If it is that the versatile Man Utd man has suffererd a hamstring strain, the layoff period can vary from a few days to several months.
A Grade 1 tear would sideline Dorgu for a maximum of three weeks, a Grade 2 tear would put him out of action for anywhere between three and eight weeks, while a more serious Grade 3 tear may prevent him from featuring for a number of months.
Pending scans are set to reveal the extent of the injury.
