Manchester United are reportedly edging closer to a £50m move for Chelsea's Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos.
The 22 year-old, who joined Chelsea from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in 2023 for a reported £17.5m, made 43 appearances for the Blues last season across all competitions, scoring three times.
A defensive midfielder, Santos has spent two of his three years at Chelsea out on loan, particularly impressing at fellow BlueCo club Strasbourg across an 18-month spell, during which he registered 15 goals and assists in 43 Ligue 1 matches.
A Brazil international, Santos has featured six times for his nation since his debut in 2023, but was left out of their squad for the 2026 World Cup.
According to Mike Keegan via Daily Mail Sport, Manchester United's move for Santos is 'progressing', with talks reported to be 'underway'.
Keegan mentions that while Santos is extremely highly thought of at Stamford Bridge, he is viewed as a saleable asset, as he is not currently a first team regular at the club.
Chelsea are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £50m for their young talent, with the Red Devils keen to add him to their midfield rebuild.
Manchester United have already seen Casemiro depart on a free transfer this summer, whilst Manuel Ugarte - who was also expected to leave this summer - suffered an ACL injury whilst at the 2026 World Cup, leaving them short in midfield.
Despite a move for fellow Brazilian midfielder Ederson being reportedly already complete ahead of next season, United are said to be keen to add multiple players to their engine room this summer.
The Red Devils have had a number of high profile targets already snaffled from under their noses this summer, with Elliot Anderson moving to Manchester City for £116m and Matheus Fernandes joining Tottenham Hotspur for £85m - both of which had been viewed as key targets for Michael Carrick's side.
