Manchester City prepare to take on Arsenal in the Community Shield for the fourth time on the back of their FA Cup win last season.
City's first appearance in the fixture was coincidentally against Arsenal, back in 1934, shortly after league winners started playing the FA Cup winners. City went on to lose the game 4-0 at Highbury.
City next appeared in 1937 when beating Sunderland 2-0 at Maine Road, before playing rivals Manchester United in 1956 when they'd lose 1-0 to a side featuring the likes of Bill Foulkes, Roger Byrne, Duncan Edwards, Tommy Taylor and Dennis Viollet.
City would then partake in the Community Shield four times between 1968 and 1973 but had to wait until 2011 for the next appearance, when throwing a 2-0 lead away to lose 3-2 to Manchester United.
Since then, City have played eight more times but have won just one of their last seven in 90 minutes.
