Lockinge Stakes odds: Zeus takes on Thunder at Newbury

Zeus Olympios takes his first steps into Group 1 company in Saturday's Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

A winner on all four of his starts as a three-year-old, the Karl Burke-trained runner lost his unbeaten record when pitched into deep waters in the bet365 Mile at Sandown on reappearance.

However, with race fitness on his side, punters are latching onto his chances, making him a contender to go off favourite at 3/1.

Among his rivals at the Berkshire venue is William Haggas' More Thunder (7/1).

The five-year-old was vastly improved last season, winning three valuable handicaps from his first four starts before landing the Hungerford Stakes at this track in good style.

A trip across the channel to contest the Prix de la Foret didn't see him lose too much in defeat, coming home in third behind the now-retired Maranoa Charlie.

Damysus (3/1) is expected to put up a huge performance after he impressed at the Craven meeting last month. The four-year-old registered a career best when giving away weight to owner-mate King's Gambit in the Earl Of Sefton and race fitness will hand him an advantage over some.

Star performer Notable Speech (9/2) is bidding to get back to winning ways after running into traffic on his latest outing at Keeneland, he returns here after finishing fourth in the 2025 renewal but has won two Group 1s in the meantime.

It wouldn't be a top-level contest without a Ballydoyle representative and Aidan O'Brien is sending over The Lion In Winter (13/2).

After shelving a career at 10 and 12 furlongs, O'Brien's charge has ran well over a mile without scoring in Group 1 company but, with a bit of luck, he certainly has the talent to scoop this prize.
