Liverpool have discovered who they will face in the UEFA Champions League league phase following the completion of the draw at the UEFA headquarters in Monaco, France.
The Reds -- who lead the way as England's most successful club on the European stage -- embark on their first UEFA Champions League campaign under the stewardship of Andoni Irola.
The six-time winners have been knocked out of the competition by back-to-back champions Paris Saint-Germain in the last two campaigns.
While Arne Slot's side held a reasonable account of themselves against the French outfit in the 2024/25 term -- narrowly exiting via penalties -- they failed to lay a glove on Luis Enrique's well-oiled machine in their 4-0 aggregate defeat in 2025/26.
Reds supporters will hope that the return of front-footed, high energy football under Iraola will bring about European nights that they were accustomed to during Jurgen Klopp's stint, with their remarkable comeback over Barcelona in the semi-final of their 2018/19 UEFA Champions League-winning campaign the result that springs to mind.
The Merseyside outfit were included in Pot 1 for the draw and were pitted against two teams from the four different pots to make up their eight league phase matches

From Pot 1, Liverpool will welcome Atletico Madrid to Anfield and travel to Italy to face Inter Milan at the San Siro.
Pot 2 has delivered Portuguese outfit Porto and Belgian side Club Brugge.
Villarreal, who locked horns with the Reds in the 2021/2022 UEFA Champions League semi-finals, will make the trip to Anfield, while the Reds will return to Istanbul to face Fenerbahce.
Iraola's side will also lock horns with Lens and LASK.
