Leicester City are reportedly plotting a move for released Ipswich Town forward Conor Chaplin.
Football League World reported that the 29-year-old is on "Leicester's radar", with the released forward "looking for a new club after his Ipswich Town contract came to an end after five years at Portman Road".
The Foxes are yet to make a signing following their relegation to League One, but the departures of Patson Daka, Ricardo Pereira and Jordan Ayew on free transfers, not to mention the €15m sale of Bilal El Khannouss, should free up funds as they look to build a squad capable of guiding the club back to the Championship.
Joining Ipswich from Barnsley for a reported £750,000 in July 2021, Chaplin proved crucial as the Tractor Boys enjoyed a rapid surge from the third tier to the Premier League.
He scored nine goals and registered three assists as he adapted to Portman Road in 2021/22, while the 2022/23 campaign saw him find the net on a remarkable 26 occasions in League One -- topping he third tier goalscoring charts.
While he wasn't quite as productive upon Ipswich's promotion to the Championship, he still found the net on 13 occasions and enjoyed his most creative term to date, registering nine second tier assists.
Albeit Chaplin didn't hit the same heights following the club's seismic rise to the Premier League, there was an element of surprise when Kieran McKenna sanctioned the temporary exit of Chaplin for the 2025/26 season -- where he spent 12 months with former club Portsmouth.
It was yet another tough term for Chaplin, recording five goal contributions in 2,237 Championship minutes, but he'll no doubt be sought after amongst EFL clubs, especially on a free transfer.
