Former cruiserweight and bridgwerweight king Lawrence Okolie believes there is only one place for him to be if he is to fulfil his aspirations of becoming a three-weight world champion.
The Londoner, who has decided to relinquish his WBC bridgerweight strap to help satisfy his heavyweight needs, has penned a multi-fight deal with Queensberry after opting to part ways with BOXXER.
Speaking immediately after confirmation of his promotional switch was confirmed on Friday afternoon, Okolie made it clear as to the reasons behind his link-up with Frank Warren.
"There is only one place to be if you are a heavyweight in Britain, or the world in fact, and that is with the Warrens," he said.
"They’ve got the best up and coming heavyweights, the best current heavyweights and the best who are on their way out, so it is the place to be, for me.
"I have gone through different phases in my career and I needed to find a home that would cater for this next period, right to the end of my career, which is the heavyweight dream of being a three-weight world champion.
“I am a natural for the weight. I have been struggling with making weight (at cruiserweight) but, when you have success, you keep on pushing it - I even had to come down to make bridgerweight, so I knew it was time to go up."
Queensberry promoter Warren, who already oversees blue-ribband division stars such as Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois, Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, says it was a no-brainer to add Okolie to his burgeoning stable.
"I am thrilled to add Lawrence to our heavyweight ranks here at Queensberry and I fully expect him to increase our successes in the marquee division," he said.
"Lawrence possesses all the attributes to make a big impact at heavyweight and he will relish being released of the burden of cutting weight, allowing his natural talent and power to shine through.
"There are so many exciting fights and options out there for Lawrence and I am so looking forward to getting him started again.”
No immediate fight plans have been announced, but it is expected that the 31-year-old could be handed his maiden Queensberry outing as part of a colossal Riyadh Season card in February next year.
Recently crowned IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois is expected to top the bill in the Middle East as he gets set to make the second defence of his prized strap after sensationally stopping two-time heavyweight ruler Daniel Dubois in destructive fashion last month.
A rematch with AJ has been mooted, but Warren has recently revealed that other options are also being discussed.
