There have been 116 different trainers to win America's most famous race but just six have managed to win the race on three or more occasions.
D. Wayne Lukas is one of the names amongst them.
The veteran trainer has been responsible for four Kentucky Derby winners, including back-to-back victories in 1995 and 1996.
Modern runnings of the race have been dominated by Bob Baffert, who has handled six winners.
Successes for American Pharoah (2015) and Justify (2018) were especially significant as they went on to become winners of the coveted American Triple Crown.
Baffert is looking to eclipse the record in 2025.
The 72-year-old runs Citizen Bull who is bidding to give him a unprecedented seventh triumph.
