Further Classic success is on the agenda for Joseph O'Brien, who is set to be doubly-represented in this month's St Leger.
O'Brien has already plundered Classic honours in the UK this season courtesy of Thundering On's victory in the Oaks and back at home, he trained Johanna Walsh to Irish Oaks glory at the Curragh.
Still very much in the early days of his training career, O'Brien also enjoyed five winners at Royal Ascot, as well as being crowned leading handler at Glorious Goodwood.
Now, heading into the Autumn, his assault on Britain's most coveted meetings is not yet over.
“Enceladus and Highwayman might both run and Enceladus obviously has been progressive and goes there on the back of a career best," O'Brien told AtTheRaces.
“It looks like being a good renewal of the race, but Enceladus is an obvious contender and I think that the extra couple of furlongs will suit him, I don’t see it being an issue and he’s a good horse.
“It’s the same for Highwayman, to be honest, and he’s come a long way pretty fast and this will probably tell us what we do towards the end of the season with him. He’s a nice colt going the right way fast.”
Enceladus is currently the shorter of the pair at 11/4 after a facile victory in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood. His career on a steep upwards trajectory following handicap victory at Royal Ascot in June.
Joseph's father, Aidan O'Brien, looks to hold the Leger key at the minute and is set to run Derby winner Christmas Day and Great Voltigeur runner-up Pierre Bonnard in the Town Moor Classic.
In 2013, Joseph rode Leading Light to Leger glory for his father; just one of Aidan's nine successes in the race. Victories in 2025, 2024 and 2023 mean that the Ballydoyle maestro is seeking a historic fourth consecutive race win.
