Jon Rahm issues positive Ryder Cup update ahead of US Masters

Jon Rahm has said he's confident that he will play at Adare Manor for the 2027 Ryder Cup.

Rahm has been locked in a legal wrangle with the DP World Tour regarding unpaid fines, jeopardising his Ryder Cup participation. DP World Tour members -- one of which Rahm remains -- were routinely issued fines for playing in non-sanctioned LIV Golf events, initially paid for by LIV themselves.

As such, the likes of Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton could play on the LIV tour while dipping their toes into DP World Tour events, maintaining their eligibility to play on the Ryder Cup, but when it was revealed that LIV would stop paying the fines, it presented players with a problem.

The DP World Tour made an offer to players that involved the waiving of fines but with other assurances, such as playing more DP World Tour events, and not having the freedom to pick which ones. While everyone signed up to the deal, Rahm repeatedly stated his unwillingness to do so, jeopardising his Ryder Cup place.

Rahm has since dropped his legal action against the DP World Tour, but the issue of unpaid fines remained. Speaking ahead of his 2026 US Masters campaign, however, Rahm said he was confident he'd be able to reach an agreement.

"We keep talking with the DP World Tour and trying to figure out a solution that works best," said Rahm.

"I didn't think that going down the legal route and going to court was good for anybody. I have faith in us and the DP World Tour that we're going to find a good solution for both of us.

"We keep talking to them and we keep trying to negotiate. I have given in on quite a few things. We're going to work it out. I'm confident this is going to be sorted out before I tee it up in September."

When asked if Rahm is currently able to play DP World Tour events, he said: "I truly don't know. I'm not planning to play until September so that's a bit of a positive. I do intend to continue supporting the DP World Tour.

"I've been very thankful to be a member, the Irish Open has been very good to me and I would love to make a return, Wentworth has been fantastic every single year, the Spanish Open."
