With Tiger Woods ruling himself out of the running to be the USA Ryder Cup captain in 2027, we look at who may take the role at Adare Manor.
Woods had been linked with the role for 2025 but turned it down, with Keegan Bradley finding himself in the unenviable position of being good enough to play, but already accepting the captaincy, and struggling with the role.
Woods was again linked for 2027 given his relationship with venue owner JP McManus but has taken his name out of the running with Team USA looking to alternatives.

Brandt Snedeker
Perhaps being groomed for the role as one of Keegan Bradley's vice captains in 2025, Brandt Snedeker will get a taste for the role as Presidents Cup captain in 2026.
Snedeker has played in two Ryder Cups, losing with a 1-2-0 record in 2012 before winning all three of his matches at Hazeltine in 2015.
Steve Stricker
On the back of two crushing defeats, the PGA of America may look to return to what worked for them last in Steve Stricker. Stricker was the last successful captain of Team USA back in 2021, having played on three Ryder Cup teams previously.
Stricker has also won the Presidents Cup as captain and been vice captain at the Ryder Cup in 2016, 2018 and 2021.
Webb Simpson
In the sweet spot of still being competitive enough to be a regular fixture on the PGA Tour and close enough to the players, but not good enough to be a consideration as a player, Webb Simpson could make an ideal captain.
Simpson was named as a vice-captain in 2025 and may be given the top job for 2027.
Jim Furyk
Although he's already had one stint as a losing captain in 2018, there's little shame in losing on European soil as an American, and Jim Furyk may be considered for a second run. Furyk was a vice-captain in 2016 having been part of the American Task Force, assembled on the back of the 2014 loss, leading to the 2016 win.
Furyk was also captain of the Presidents Cup team in 2024.
