It has been a tournament to forget for Spanish star Jon Rahm, as the two-time major winner crashed out of the BMW PGA Championship, following two dismal rounds of golf at Wentworth.
The 31-year-old carded the joint-worst score in his DP World Tour career on Thursday, finishing 6-over par with a total of 78. The Spaniard followed that up with an equally disappointing 77 on Friday, finishing dead last on the leaderboard at the end of his second round.
Rahm, who faces an uncertain future following the bankruptcy of the LIV Tour, struggled to find his rhythm at any point during his two rounds in Surrey and finished +11.
The Spaniard made just three birdies across 36 holes at Wentworth; two rounds which included two double-bogeys alongside 10 bogeys.
His form away from LIV Golf in recent months leaves plenty to be desired. The former world number one failed to make the cut as the US Open, where he was eliminated at 6-over par.
He hit another opening round 78 at The Masters earlier this year, before rescuing his scorecard to eventually finish +1, T38.
At both the Scottish Open in July and The Open Championship, Rahm failed to finish inside the top 30; an even-par finish at Royal Birkdale was only enough to finish T46.
Without a doubt, Rahm's form has been effected by a lack of play time away from LIV Golf. Both he and American star Bryson DeChambeau are likely to attempt to return to the PGA Tour or DP World Tour next year, but as of yet there is no resolution in those talks.
Despite his poor form away from LIV, Rahm is still fancied as one of the best golfers on the planet; the 31-year-old remains third favourite in the betting for the 2027 Masters at Augusta next year.
