Joe Gelhardt's future has come under the spotlight in recent days with the forward set for a move away from Leeds United.
The former Wigan Athletic academy graduate has not travelled with Daniel Farke's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States and a number of clubs are interested in his services.
Gelhardt joined Hull City on loan for a second time last season and his return to Humberside proved to be extremely fruitful, with the 24-year-old netting 12 goals as the Tigers secured promotion to the Premier League.
It was largely expected Gelhardt would seal a switch to the MKM Stadium on a permanent basis this summer, although Hull's ambitious transfer plans appear to have jeopardised a potential switch.
We take a look at where Gelhardt could venture next.
Hull City
Hull owner Acun Ilicali did not rule out a return for Gelhardt, telling BBC Radio Humberside: “I cannot say yes or no at the moment. After we finish our major transfers [we will decide].
"I love Gelhardt. For me, he is a fantastic, fantastic boy. We have lived so many successes together. But this is our coach’s decision."
Tigers head coach Sergej Jakirovic added: “If it’s my decision he will be here with us."
Yet no immediate deal for Gelhardt is forthcoming, despite the forward suggesting back in mMay that he would love to make his Hull stay permanent.
Birmingham City
Birmingham City have emerged as strong candidates to sign Gelhardt as they look to beef up their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
The Blues added Anderlecht striker Luis Vazquez to their ranks the other week and a player of Gelhardt's calibre and versatility would certainly enhance Chris Davies' squad.
Birmingham are still lacking an obvious No.10 in Davies' 4-2-3-1 system, and it's unclear whether the Blues head coach identifies Gelhardt as a figure who could fill that void or utilise him from the left, given that Carlos Vicente and Patrick Roberts will compete for a starting berth on the right flank.
Rangers
Rangers were linked with Gelhardt before his move to Leeds United in 2020 and it's a rumour that never seems to cease with the Glasgow giants credited with an interest in the forward this summer.
Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has previously teased a transfer link-up between the two clubs, who are both owned by 49ers Enterprises, although no deal for any player has come to fruition.
The Gers are undergoing another major rebuild with Derek McInnes now at the helm and the need for further reinforcements was made obvious during their Dundee United stalemate.
Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough were tracking Gelhardt last summer before he returned to Hull and the forward could be the perfect replacement for Morgan Whittaker, who is reportedly wanted by West Ham.
Boro have already made some eye-catching moves to bolster Kim Hellberg's attacking options, which includes the signing of Gelhardt's former Tigers team-mate Kyle Joseph, while Will Lankshear and Jeremy Sarmiento have arrived on permanent deals with the profit made from Hayden Hackney's sale.
Whittaker's departure would leave a glaring void on the right-side of Hellberg's attacking three and Gelhardt will likely be available for a snip of the price.
