Ismaila Sarr Injury Timeline: When is the Crystal Palace star expected to return

Crystal Palace are expected to imminently welcome key man Ismaila Sarr back into the first-team fold.

The Senegal international hasn't featured for the Eagles at all this season due to the uncertainty surrounding his future and a niggling groin injury.

The fleet-footed attacker was heavily linked with a summer switch to Liverpool, however, the move failed to materialise with Palace refusing to budge from their hefty valuation.

Palace boss Pierre Sage has recently claimed the forward has been struggling to come to terms with his failed move.

"He has to digest for sure because it's a dream for a lot of players to play with this kind of club (Liverpool)," he told the media at his press conference ahead of the Fulham clash.

"He had a good opportunity but in the end it didn't work. If he wants to continue, you have to have a good season with us as he did last year. We know he needs time.

"Like every bad situation, time does the job and we need time for that."

When is Ismaila Sarr expected to return?

Whilst there is no official date on when Sarr is expected to return, it's understood that he could be in contention to feature in some capacity against Ipswich Town this weekend.

The 28-year-old hasn't played any competetive football since the World Cup, where he featured in all four of his country's games in the United States of America.

Sarr scored 28 times for club and country in what was by far the most productive campaign of his career, and his return will provide Palace with a significant boost as they look to build upon their first Premier League success of the campaign last time out.

It's not expected that he will be available for Tuesday night's EFL Cup showdown with Middlesbrough, but there is some speculation that he could be available for Ipswich on Saturday.

Last season's Conference League winners have three Premier League fixtures prior to the three-week international break at the end of the month, and it would come as a surprise should the former Watford man not return during that time.
